King Games Releases New App, Diamond Digger

King Games, makers of mobile gaming sensations like Candy Crush and Farm Heroes Saga, have released their latest game: Diamond Digger. New on the App Stores this month, Diamond Digger puts a new spin on the match-three puzzle formula that have made the company into a billion-dollar business.

The release comes on the heels of falling stock prices and widespread speculation that King’s business model was trapped in a downward spiral. Since their IPO earlier this year, King has seen stock prices fall about 60% to USD$13.50 as of this writing. The negative speculation has been fueled in part by the slowing popularity of Candy Crush and negative publicity for the company. But company insiders hope that Diamond Digger can help turn perceptions about the company around.

Though similar to Candy Crush in its matching gameplay, Diamond Digger’s puzzles are a much different beast than the titan of mobile gaming. Players help Diggy, a star-shaped cartoon, to burrow underground and gather gems. Diggy mines for these jewels (plus sleeping fireflies, hidden toys, and other improbable items) by directing water through the underground tunnels. If the player digs deep enough, they may reach hidden treasure rooms filled with chests of gold that give large in-game point bonuses.

It’s too early to tell if Diamond Digger will have a significant impact on King’s stock price, but with well over 100,000 installs in its first week on mobile, the game appears to be poised to make waves. King executives will be watching Diamond Digger’s performance closely to see how the public reacts. You can try it out for yourself free on iOS and Android. If you become stuck for any reason, the fine folks at Diamond Digger Cheats will be able to help you with guides to every level of the game.
