Chicago’s Year-Round Dose Market Opens Its Doors On Oct 14
The eclectic Dose market makes its monthly flash appearance this upcoming Sunday, Oct 14 from 10 am-4 pm at the River East Art Center, giving Chicagoans a taste of local food and fashion wares, amongst other goods. Dose celebrates the work of Chicago’s dynamic bunch of vendors—be it vintage suitcase speakers, booze-spiked snow cones, grown-up decorative dollhouses or any number of other off-the-wall trinkets.
Dose was co-founded in 2010 by consultant-cum-stylist-cum April Francis—really a jack of all (cultural) trades—with the purpose of promoting “greatness in small business and artisanship” in the market setting, as Francis’s website states.
October’s Dose market presents the following eccentric offerings: cider cocktails and whiskeys from Journeyman Distillery, fancy schmancy wooden cutting boards by Greta de Parry, mid-century pieces from furniture house Circa Modern, fabulous old world ready-to-wear costumes by Silver Moon Vintage boutique, divine pickles from SuckerPunch Gourmet, funky utilitarian fittings from merkled studio, and much more.
The Dose market debuted to much buzz in June 2011, celebrating its one-year anniversary this past summer after hosting the event month after month. Shortly after the momentous occasion, Dose faced a slight setback as three of its four co-founders chose to leave the venture. Some Chicagoans perhaps wondered if the market could keep up with all the hype—though being left with the formidable creative mind of Francis must have been enough, since the market continues to run on all cylinders.
